What are Secretomes?
Secretomes are “packages” created by living cells whose contents are encased in the same type of lipid membrane of the parent cell. The Secretomes contain many contents including hormones, signaling molecules, DNA and mRNA to name a few. These “packages” are released by cells and absorbed by other surrounding cells to induce behavioral changes in the target cells. They are produced by many cell types in the body.
Several uses of Secretomes have been discovered. In one example, Secretomes have been used to package synthesized pharmaceuticals for delivery to. Many cells make Secretomes, and these have different contents depending on the cell they originate from and the objective of those cells. Some Secretomes from inflammatory immune cells or even cancer cells are very undesirable. However, healthy cells such as stem cells that are looking to promote healthy growth and repair of surrounding tissues is the objective.
The most effective use of these structures is the delivery of naturally occurring hormones, signaling molecules, DNA and mRNA from the “right” type of cells. Our goal is to induce wound healing, reversal of metabolic dysfunction, cellular repair, cellular repair of the matrix surrounding cells, increase in cellular activity and function. To do this, stem cells are harvested from healthy placental tissue from the healthiest and most highly screened donors available. The labs we partner with have strict donor criteria that screen for all known communicable diseases, genetic diseases and abnormalities that could affect the recipient patients. The stem cells are taken from the placenta, that is thrown out after the baby is born, but this placental tissue is full of healthy stem cells, growth factors and many other biological substances that have been rapidly growing a healthy baby. Surgeons often marvel at the ability of children to heal rapidly after surgery, the more so the younger the patient, especially newborn. This phenomenon is due to young, healthy, new stem cells. As we age, our stem cells age with us and are less effective. That is why techniques like Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) isolating stem cells from our own bodies is minimally useful.
Placental stem cells are harvested and injected directly into the body to achieve the above stated goals. However, the effectiveness of stem cells is due to the secretion of Secretomes they manufacture to signal our own cells to wake up and go to work. This process is far more helpful than PRP discussed above. However, we now have a more novel and far more effective option: direct injection of Secretomes.
Placental stem cells can now be harvested from healthy placentas, grown in culture and stimulated in the lab to secrete large amounts of good Secretomes containing all the things we want to heal and nurture our aging, dysfunctional cells, and to restore them to an active and robust state. Our cells become energetic, cleaning up their surroundings and themselves. They stop secreting inflammatory chemicals and cells that are too damaged are discarded by the body and replaced. With Exosome injections, no cells are injected into the body, just the signaling packets and they are far more biologically effective.
Our Secretome products are intended to be used as a regenerative product. It contains all the soluble components that are secreted by stem cells including proteins, enzymes, anti-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, immunomodulatory molecules, growth factors, extracellular matrix, lipid bilayer, vesicles and matrisomes. It is produced from approved allogenic birth tissues in sterile vials.
The placental allograft tissue is processed to extract and preserve the structure of Secretome components. The contents are characterized and quantified by Molecular and sequencing techniques. Preparation and quality assurance methods are performed and comply with standards as set by the FDA and American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB), found in CFR 1271 and all applicable state requirements.
Secretome components are extracted, stabilized and packaged using aseptic techniques in ultra-clean controlled microenvironments. Lot-to-lot validated sterility and endotoxin testing are performed.
